Hi Xi, It's not easy to explain. It's not easy to explain because I'm not a language expert and I'm not a professional programmer but I think this complain it's related to those fields. Summed up my English it's very limited.
For English to Spanish translations quality decreased significantly. I noticed because I was helping me a lot doing translations for letters and such. It was good translations, something was clicking right because there was something like a correct feeling in the translation database, the meaning of sentences were near what the expression should be in the translation. Then it comes the Google translation revamp and everything go backwards. Again translation were lack luster, mainly literal translation without the meaning of phrases, mere words going from one language to another. That wasn't the approach before. I can give you and example right now: I just wrote: It was good translations, something was clicking right because there was something like a correct feeling in the translation database. the translation in Spanish is: Se buenas traducciones, algo estaba haciendo clic derecho porque no había algo así como una sensación correcta en la base de datos de traducción That is wrong! "there was something" it is expressed as a negation: "no había algo así" and that phrase in Spanish doesn't express negation at all! It should be "había algo así" and not "no había algo así". Before the revamp I had mentioned the translations were not perfect but there was a good, decent feeling on what one was expressing from one language to the other. I think Google changed something, an algorithm, something structural in the translator, something key to get good, nice results. thank you for your attention, Best regards, Carlos B.
