Hi, I'm attempting to translate some documents (actually using the google translator toolkit - however I've noticed the same problem with google translate) where the source text may actually already be in the target language. When this is the case I would expect google translate to simply ignore the target language text however it seems to be obfuscating it somehow.
Example: I translate the english text "Japan" to the Thai text "?????????????" (Brateht Yippon). When I then submit that document again with the text "?????????????" with a source language of english and a target language of Thai I get the result "?????????????" (Yippon Brateht) which is the reversal of the thai phrase. As soon as I add any english text to the source, e.g. "????????????? hello" the translation of "Japan" remains correct (i.e. it doesn't change it at all). Any way of getting around this other than putting some kind of static marker at the end of each phrase i'm attempting to translate which I subsequently remove from the translation result? e.g. [abcdefg] Thanks, - Sam -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "General" group.
