Interesting. Thanks for the bug report guys. We're working on making our TTS use a HTML5-based player instead of Flash, which may alleviate this problem. But sounds like it might be fixable from the Gentoo side or the Firefox side as well.
Certainly let me know if there's anything simple we can do on the Translate side to resolve this.
