Google Translate is a great service but it clearly needs work, especially when it comes to translating PDF documents.
I tried to translate some German documents to English and while for the most part the results looked fine in the web browser (although nothing displayed in Internet Explorer other than the header with the document title) printing was another matter. Neither Firefox (6.0) nor Chrome (13) was able to print what I was looking at. They would only prepare a single page and even that was messed up (overlapping text, things re-arranged). I suspect Google is getting tricky (perhaps to support the ability to suggest better translations) and browsers are unable to deal with whatever they're doing (at least when it comes to printing). Hopefully Google is working on a solution because while being able to view translated PDF documents is very nice I think most people want a more permanent copy. Even if it returned a PDF document but I guess that would break the ability to suggest better translations. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "General" group.
