I have been using a free website host and am now switching over to a paid
service. In preparation for that, I want to make modifications to the
website and have downloaded everything from the host that I didn't
originally provide (e.g. CSS files) and setup an appropriate folder
hierarchy.

The main page includes the Google translation widget and I have never had
any problem using it on the host with any browser (it is still working).

I have now made quite a few changes to the website generally. While
checking that all was o.k. with the web pages I discovered that the
dropdown menu only shows "Select Language". I use 64 bit Firefox (Waterfox)
typically. However, trying it with Chrome and Safari it is fine and
displays the language list. IE is a different story as it first displays
"Internet Explorer restricted this webpage from running scripts or Activex
controls" and then, upon allowing blocked content, it seems to go into
limbo for a while before eventually displaying the Google widget but, as
with Firefox, only shows "Select Language".

The implication is obviously that there is a lack of some appropriate code
locally or it is different to that on the host or there is some option set
inappropriately. So, why do Chrome and Safari work locally and all browsers
work fine with the site on the host? I can have both local and host sites
displayed on different tabs in Waterfox and the host dropdown menu is fine
and that for the local is not.

I have tried Googling for similar problems but, despite using varied
phrasing, I have not come across anyone with a similar problem.

I have a Google map widget displayed on the same page and there is no
problem.

I am running under Win 7 HP. Ooi, I have never had resolution to another
problem concerning an analog clock widget on the same page that displays
correctly as red on all browsers apart from IE where it appears as green.

Any ideas?
