Please could you add 'Tok Pisin' / Pigin English to Google Translate! I this possible one day? There's over 7 million people in Papua New Guinea - many speak Tok Pisin (the national language) as a unifying language. Other countries in the Pacific also speak Pigin English including Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu, and I believe Samoa, Tonga, Raratonga, Bougainville, West Papua / Irian Jaya etc...
Merely a short paddle across the waves is Australia and New Zealand and we are a major source of aid and development support as well as business opportunities and foreign investment. Helping to build online translation services (and Google Translate is the best and most universal) will help community development and regional trade across the Pacifc region rather that English being continually imposed upon Pacific neighbours by Australia. Google Translate could significantly help with this and by doing help community developement in Pacifc countries all struggling with poverty, corruption, economic and environmental uncertainty. I do community development work in these areas and would like to show respect by learning and conversing in Tok Pisin but it's hard to find good resources - especially dynamic and versatile resources like google translate. Here's some relevant Wikipedia links... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tok_Pisin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pidgin Thank you Google Translate or anyone else out there who hears the call. regards, Brad in the area . -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "General" group.
