Hello! Google Translate uses statistical machine translation, so to build the translation model between a pair of language there must be a parallel corpus between those 2 languages. I think it is highly improbable that Google has such pair for every supported language in Google Translate, so perhaps English or some other intermediate language is used between pairs in which direct translation is not available.
My question is, is there such list of which pairs are direct? Tried googling to no avail. Well, more specifically, I want to know whether Indonesian-Japanese translation in Google Translate is a direct translation. Thanks a lot!
