Since auto-translation has been introduced to Google Reader, I've applied it to several feeds and folders that I'm subscribed to. Since there are folder that involve feeds in various languages, some of the feeds are in english, and thus need not be translated. When opening a post (which opens the original site), Google Reader actually opens the translated version of the page. Which is great. Unless it's in English, in which case I get the "Translation from English into English is not supported" message.
I was thinking: it's kind of self obvious that someone who seeks to translate a webpage to its own language would eventually want to see the original page if there's no choice. So how about uto-directing to the original and just leave something like "Showing original site (error: Translation from English into English is not supported)" on the top frame, to explain the situation, and add the option of manually selecting the language within that frame? Note that this is not a Google Reader issue. It would, however, affect more and more GReader users as they begin to use the auto-translate option.
