There is no direct connection between the spreadsheets and the visualizations api, in the terms of updating data while being fetched to be visualized.I understand why it makes sense, and might be quite powerful, but it doesn't exist yet. The spreadsheets application is a data source like any other one, and this api is designed for read only queries, for simplicity of use.
