@Markw65 I'm sorry to hear that I can't query against a dataTable. I'll look into your php example, but with my limited programming skills an lack of access to a php test environment it may be a slow go. Thank all the same.
@chrissky You're examples look promising. Two "enhancements" that I think would be nice are the flicker/redraw problem (which someone else found a workaround using two charts) and having a two time axis scales (one for the full time range available in the data set, and one showing a narrower range for fine adjustment if you zoom to the hourly level).
