Google Visualization API has a wrapper for Google Chart API: http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/genericimagechart.html
use google.visualization.ImageChart with options.cht = 'bhs' (or bvs, for a vertical bar chart) instead of google.visualization.ImageBarChart. that might help with the dynamic marker placement.
