I haven't looked into fixing the problem yet - maybe tonight. At this
point my main concern is that Google should be interested in backwards-
compatibility, meaning that changes at their end shouldn't affect user-
code that worked before.

I hoped to get feedback in the form:

a) we (Google) are going to restore backwards-compatible behaviour

or

b) legacy code has to be adjusted at your (Google-API-user) end.
