Thanks for the response.  I created a very simple test case using the
pens/pencils example provided in the documentation and, in fact, under
that scenario the method does work in IE for me.  Not clear how mine
is different, but there is a lot of stuff going on so I'll take a
closer look to see if I can figure it out.  Thanks again.
