Ah, good point! Ok that makes some more sense. I still can't do what I want easily, but at least understand the situation a bit better. Incidentally, pointing out things like this is very helpful. It gives me (and hopefully others) a better idea about the mental model the GVIZ development team had when creating the API. That helps us use it more effectively.
