Isn't it a bit disingenuous to call this a "new concept"?

It's just a clone of Hans Roslings' trendalyzer, as used by GapMinder.org
and also purchased by Google to become the MotionChart.
You can see it demonstrated in this 2006 TED talks video:

A straight clone isn't much use, especially when its a product you must pay
for and the MotionChart is free.
What we *really* need is a flash-free html version that could run on all
those corporate iPads, then you'd have something worthy of a second look.
