In that case, if we go back to the original idea, I suspect the problem is that IE is not reading the data structure returned by the AJAX call correctly. IIRC, your code had a comment to the effect that the results were returned as a CSV that was then translated into JSON, correct? If so, IE may not be making that translation properly. Inspect the data structure returned and find out what IE is (or is not) doing with it.
