I have data that is being returned from my server in a JSON array. I then manipulate it for a dataTables instance and two Google charts (Column and Pie). The problem comes that much of my data has been grouped on multiple columns (columns may change and are determined server side). In the end my table looks something like this:
Date Press Shift Total Parts Good Defects Ignored Yield 09/26/12 1 1 279 239 40 0 85.66 09/26/12 1 2 491 457 34 0 93.08 09/26/12 1 3 484 442 42 0 91.32 09/26/12 2 1 866 866 0 0 100 09/26/12 2 2 970 966 4 0 99.59 09/26/12 2 3 868 868 0 0 100 I only want to display as columns the Good, Defects, and Ignored columns but display via axis label/Tooltips tips the rest of the information. Right now the axis labels end up looking something like this: 09/26/12 Press:10 Shift:1 Total Parts:2214 Yield:96.75 Where I have manually concatenated the labels to retain the data and tell my user which column their data actually is talking about. For readability sake I would like my axis to end up looking like: Date: 09/26/12 09/26/12 09/26/12 09/26/12 Press: 1 1 1 2 Shift: 1 2 3 1 etc. So that the data is easier to display in the space I have and makes more sense to the user. Am I the only one who would be interested in this? Is this possible with the API? If so, where do I start?
