I also have this error under IE8.
I try to use simple chart as in the Google Play ground (https://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/?type=visualization#bar_chart), but also receive this error. In my case the error didn't occur when page is loaded for the first time, it occurs when I submit some form and send AJAX request (XHR).
