I assume that by 1, you mean customizing the tooltip content. You can already do this. In fact, the GeoChart also recently gained support for HTML tooltips. Here is a jsfiddle exemplifying how to customize your tooltips: http://jsfiddle.net/m6k2k/1/
We really want to support markers and regions simultaneously, but we haven't really figured out how to pack both into one DataTable. If you have suggestions for that, they would be appreciated.
