OK, I found it out myself while I was writing my answer to you :-))) The problem was that my PHP file had HTML tags at the beginning and at the end like it had been a normal HTML page for displaying, not a data source for charts. These tags were apparently transfered to my Javascript caller as part of JSON. And that is obviously wrong :-)))
