How you would go about doing this depends a great deal on the server 
details.  What programming/scripting language are you working in (PHP, 
ASP.net, Java, Python, something else)?  Use the tools available in your 
chosen environment to query your database.  You can either output the 
results directly into javascript, or you can format them as a JSON string 
and fetch the data via AJAX.
