For many reasons, it would be very useful to be able to set a gridline 
value.  I imagine the value and the font and the color would need to be 
setable.  So an easy use case of this would be a scatter-chart to show a 
scale of grades on an exam over time, in the background of the chart one 
would want to show a line at 59 representing Failing, another bold gridline 
at 69 representing below average, and so on and so forth.
