Nick,

I agree that we should fire the rangechange event when the zoom is changed
by way of the zoom buttons.  That should be easy to add, but it probably
won't happen for a couple months.

By "too many data points" do you mean that it slows down?  We have some
other changes that will show up in the next release that speed up the
display of a large number of data points, and allow the drawing to be done
asynchronously so the user can still interact with the chart range filter
reasonably.
