Matt, I can't tell from your images what might be happening, although the first one suggests that your data values are not in order. The chart does not change the order of the rows based on the domain values, so you have to do that ahead of time.
If that doesn't give you enough of a hint, then we really need to see a working example to tell what you mean, and to look at your data and options.
