Hi Paulo,

The Google Maps service that is used by the map-related charts in Google
Charts is now limited in a couple ways. Without the use of the
mapsApiKey, you can still use the maps in the same way, and it remains
free, but this usage will be combined with everyone else in the world using
it this way, and all will be 'throttled' after some point, meaning that
more usage will slow down the responses or possibly be blocked until usage
thins out. I'm not sure of the details on this throttling process (e.g.
what rate per day is permitted), but that is the effect.

If you do set up your own mapsApiKey, then you will be unconstrained by the
above public limits, but there will still be throttling limits based on the
usage pattern of your users. I don't know that paying for such a key could
get you a higher limit (maybe so), but I believe getting a free key will
serve most usage just fine.

The limitations are only for use of the geocoding aspect of maps. The map
data itself is pregenerated and served by Google Charts.
