The problem with this is that the post-insert editing will
not "merge" in the same way as normal wave text, right?
Basically when two participants edit an input element of
a gadget concurrently the last participant
o submit the edit will win and
the other edits will be lost.  Or am I missing something?

Hmmm.  It'd be nice if a gadget could be attached as
an annotation to a chunk of external text or something.
I'm entirely uncertain about how this would work...
