Hi Alec - That is likely referring to the "Add gadget" option in WaveSandbox.com. In wave sandbox, you can click "Editor Debug > Extensions > Add Gadget" and the subsequent dialog gives you the ability to specify user preferences in JSON form. There is no equivalent on Wave Preview, so the only way for users to set preferences is via a custom UI that you provide.
Depending on the preference, it may be better to just store it in the state.
