Dear Liz, If there is a way, I don't know of it. But from what I know, you can upload the document onto Google Wave by clicking on the little paper clip while editing a blip. I'm not sure if you can just drag it onto Google Wave.
Well, I do not think you can see a thumbnail of the document. However, it does work for pdf files.
