Actually, can I at least ask for a cross-posting here? I would very much like to know if there are common cases that get broken by the new layout system, and this seems like a pretty important one. I don't actually know much about how maps tends to initialize itself, but I'll keep an eye on this thread -- any more information on precisely what's going on would be helpful. Thanks.
