there should be an entry in your module.gwt.xml file similar to: <servlet path="/tasks" class="com.myapp.TaskServlet" />
That is where the task url is registered in hosted mode. When you deploy to a web server, you will need to specify the servlet with the "tasks" mapping in your web.xml.
