We had this problem too. I built a new version of the library from current source (instructions here <https://github.com/vaadin/gwt-polymer-elements>), and that resolved at least that particular issue. The generated jar file has 1.2.3.1 as version number, and our application seems to work well with 2.8.0-rc1 now.
