Some progress. The unresponsiveness is due to a breakpoint being taken due to an umbrella exception. I found this on the debugger tab of Safari's developer tools.
Exception with thrown value: Error: com.google.web.bindery.event.shared.UmbrellaException: Exception caught: (TypeError) : undefined is not an object (evaluating 'name_0_g$') I've no idea what is causing the exception and am still looking for a stack trace.
