If you are 1.38 gigs into swap then you need at least 1.38GB more RAM
to keep your machine responsive...

Anyone developing java in 2009 should really have at least 2 gigs of
RAM.  Anyone trying to run a Java IDE + a servlet container + a
servlet + a browser +++ should really have at least 4GB of RAM.
