All released versions of GWT won't run in IE8 unless you put it in
"compatibility mode", e.g. using
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7">
IE8 "super standards" mode will be supported starting with the next
GWT 1.6.x release.
