Just select to receive one daily digest message instead of each email if you think this is too much. Or you could even turn off receiving messages at all and only use the web interface to see the messages and read only those that are of interest to you.
I personally don't see a need to split up this group. GWT is specific enough to have this group as it is. I think most of the bulk come from questions that have been asked already (people not doing their research before asking), questions that are too general or almost impossible to understand to merit any kind of response.
