Hi,
I have a general question about coding.
I am working with XML documents presently and I am not able to
understand what cast to an object does.

for example:

NodeList URLs = (NodeList) root.getChildNodes();

this gives me an error of
[ERROR] Uncaught exception escaped
java.lang.ClassCastException:
com.google.gwt.xml.client.impl.NodeListImpl cannot be cast to
com.google.gwt.dom.client.NodeList

but when i change the code to
com.google.gwt.xml.client.NodeList URLs = root.getChildNodes();
this works fine

also again
Document xmlDoc = (Document) XMLParser.parse(response.getText());
this gives me an error
but
com.google.gwt.xml.client.Document xmlDoc =   XMLParser.parse
(response.getText());
does not

can someone explain why does this happen??
