Some code would help. Actually, the whole project would be ideal - I'd be happy to take a quick look if you want to send it direct. What doctype are you using? Usually if you have the right doctype and you level the browsers' css (e.g. get rid of all the default padding and so on) and then build it up again as you want it, most of these problems are avoided, but there are some very strange cases where tables and divs keep their height when they should shrink and the only solution I have found is to set a border on one side of 2px or greater (1px doesn't work for some reason) and make it the same colour as the background. It's usually Firefox which plays me up, though.
