Did you at least find which catalina.base it's using? (it should be
displayed in the log at a "debug" level:

I'm really sorry that it doesn't work for you (as I'm happily using it
in GWT 1.5's GWTShell and GWT 1.7's HostedMode –not in unit tests
though–)
