I an using GWT 1.6.0.18. I found no reference of this matter in either the 1.7 release notes nor the issues tracking list.
I have a TextBox into which I can enter text. I have a keyboard listener camped on the TextBox, looking for a "key_enter" and upon intercepting that event will execute a method which asks the user if they really wants to take this next step. When the user says anything other than "y", the code resets the message and attempts to put the cursor back into the entry field by TextBox.setFocus(). However the program behaves as if the setFocus process actually re-reads the text in the TextBox, INCLUDING the enter key, re-triggering the key_enter event ... such that the program re-asks the question. The only way I have been able to deal with this problem is not to attempt to setFocus back into that TextBox. Not nice!
