Hi, Ideally you should not clear the RootPanel contents. I think the problem is its going into infinite loop -hence the problem.
Onclick of button second time,just clear the grid or the parent elements and load the grid again which can be done by creating the design of a grid in a function and if possible use remove function if you want to destroy the original instance completely. I had faced the same issue which got cleared.
