Just a little clarification here (see inline comments below):

c) The hosted mode browser requires a 32 bit compiler. But google has

The current hosted browser is still recommended for the latest and current
GWT 1.7 release. Also, as Sri mentioned, hosted mode does require a 32-bit
JDK because of its dependency on SWT bindings.

You can also use Out-of-Process Hosted Mode (OOPHM) from trunk if you wish,
which will work with a 64-bit JDK. Other developers have already had success
with it, but your mileage may vary.
