Yes, UI must talk to the same server. There are a few workarounds. You can use hidden iFrames or other techniques to load data from a different server. Or you can setup a proxy server. Or you can use flash to handle the communication for you. Just google up "Same Origin Policy Workarounds" -- you are likely to get a lot of advice.
