I'm facing the same problem, with Eclipse 3.4 on Windows XP. Was working with it last 4 weeks, and suddenly, Hosted Mode stopped working.
This occurs even if I try to create a new Blank Google Web Application, and even if I do this in a new workspace (I only not tested reinstall eclipse). The "clean run" on the "new project" renders the html content (Web Application Starter Project), but dont display any GWT Widget. The application works if Compile/Browse is used, but this is very "time expensive" to try and test applications. By now, I'll follow the advice to use hosted mode from command line. thanks in advance.
