The wizards actually help teach you how to write good GWT code quickly. You can work equally in the source view or the design view. As you drop widgets into the design view and adjust their properties, the source view is instantly updated to show you the corresponding code. Likewise, if you make changes in the source view, you can quickly see how it looks in the design view (w/o needing to continually launch your app to see the layout). For a professional developer, it will typically pay for itself in a few hours of use. The tool also supports both GWT-Ext and Ext GWT (GXT) so you can create very attractive UIs very quickly and still have simple, easy-to-read, easy-to-maintain code.
