The status "AssumedStale" simply means that the issue hasn't had any updates within the past year. If an issue is marked as such, and you know that a) it's still an issue and b) there is no plausible workaround, please add a comment and star the issue (if you haven't already).
A quick update: I mentioned that you can reopen the issue, but this isn't completely accurate. Only admins can update the status of the issue itself.
