it is possible, but not out of the box nor easy to implement nor good
practice.
just use a composite rule with some parent like the body element, ie.
.longItems .myRule {
width: 500px;
}
and do:
RootPanel.getBodyElement().setClassName("longItems");
of course, using a css resource bundle instead of the literal...
