OK. That literally solved it. 1. Go to the following archive:
http://code.google.com/p/google-web-toolkit/source/browse/trunk/plugins/xpcom/prebuilt/?r=8276#prebuilt%3Fstate%3Dclosed 2. Click on gwt-dev-plugin.xpi so that the screen reads This file is too large to display. View raw file 3. Right-click and Save Link As on View raw file. The saved file should be several Meg about 4.9M in size. (If it's only 23K you haven't saved the file). 4. Drag it onto a FireFox window. This should install the plugin.
