I hade similar problem and I have solved it by calling:
StylledListResources.INSTANCE.cellListStyle().ensureInjected();
my overrided resources look like this:
public interface StylledListResources extends CellList.Resources {
final static StylledListResources INSTANCE =
GWT.create(StylledListResources.class);
/**
* the overrided styles
*/
@Source("FaplCellList.css")
Style cellListStyle();
}
