Hi,

I see 2 reasons for this situation:

1) GWT Designer  is a recent product for Google: see
http://googlewebtoolkit.blogspot.com/2010/09/google-relaunches-instantiations.html
-> integration not yet perfect

2) GWT Designer is an optional add-on clearly separated from the core
of GWT: no need for tight integration
