Yeah, 30 seconds after I posted this it occurred to me that I COULD test this under development mode, not just as a deployed app. :-( What's worse, is that I found the problem, and it's one I'd previously discovered on Dec 8: IE 7 throws an exception when you try to add something to a HorizontalPanel whose horizontal alignment is set to ALIGN_JUSTIFY. Ah, well, at least this time I submitted a bug report.
